Moving turtles, as you know, not very fast. But shelter from bad weather and some enemies are always with you. Hid the limbs under the armor - and rest yourself where you left off. The same principle was put in the basis of a house on wheels. We offer to make a short digression into the history and modernity of campers and other varieties of houses on wheels.
The idea is almost as old as the car itself. Turn cars into living rooms at the dawn of the last century. Before making a bedroom out of them, it was just a step. In the US and in Europe, trailers-houses were sold already in the mid-1930s. By the way, now the highest chic - to go to some festival on an old car with a trailer of the corresponding era.
Of course, modern trailers (they are usually called caravans, sometimes - trailers), like the current cars, are far from their ancestors. Today it is really at home, cut from modern light materials and with interiors worthy of a decent hotel, and even a cozy apartment - true, small.
Trailers have one or two axles and a total mass of 1800-2500 kg. The length of the largest and heaviest models reaches seven meters. That is, it is already a very serious "tail", which, by the way, requires a corresponding category in the driver's license. Official lifting capacity of trailers is 270-450 kg, and they are designed for three - six guests.
The thickness of the walls of the mobile home is about 30 mm, the floor is 40 mm. The height of the ceiling is 195-198 cm (enough for even the tallest basketball player), the maximum internal width is about 2 meters. The beds are two meters long, but they are longer (up to 2.3 m).
There is all or almost everything that is supposed to have in the house. A stock of water is usually 40-70 liters, a container for drains (in Europe it is not customary to drain dirty water wherever you get) - about half the volume. Water pumps a small electric pump, and its gas is heated from the cylinder. Heating is also gas. Warm air heats up in the air heater, and then, by the automobile principle, it blows a fan through several air ducts to several nozzles. The fan speed, of course, can be adjusted, as well as the direction of the flow of warm air - by flaps.
Of course, there is a bathroom (with a system for collecting waste in a special container or just a bio-toilet), a gas cooker, a refrigerator of quite a decent volume. However, the stuffing of the trailer can be selected at will. Lists of additional equipment are no less long than those of car manufacturers.
Many models can be connected not only to a fixed power grid, but also to a sewage system. This possibility is provided for numerous car parks in Europe and especially in the USA for caravan owners.
In general, everything is great. But there is a new caravan of 18 000-20 000 euros. And there are models and more expensive. In addition, the house on wheels will go far from every garage. That is why in Europe and the US, sales of used trailers, as well as their rental, are developed.
