In high risk, economically disadvantaged neighbourhoods, such as those primarily resident by black and minority ethnic groups BME , teenage pregnancies are relatively more frequent. To explore preferences held by vulnerable young mothers of BME origin and those close to them about existing and desired perinatal health services. These were coded, thematically analysed, interpreted and subsequently triangulated through facilitator and participant review and discussion. Despite perceptions of a prevalent local culture of mistrust and suspicion, a number of themes and accompanying recommendations emerged.
Teenage pregnancy , also known as adolescent pregnancy , is pregnancy in a female under the age of Pregnant teenagers face many of the same pregnancy related issues as other women. There are additional concerns for those under the age of 15 as they are less likely to be physically developed to sustain a healthy pregnancy or to give birth. Teenage pregnancies are associated with social issues , including lower educational levels and poverty. When used in combination, educational interventions and access to birth control can reduce unintended teenage pregnancies.
Those benefits do not stop after a certain age, though. They change, much like our children, as we age into youth — and onward to adults. But yet, free-range play for teenagers can feel somewhat elusive.
