Manufacturing teams do extraordinary things with Fusion

Everything you need to drive your CNC machines

Connected design and manufacture

Integrated CAD/CAM automatically cascades design revisions through to production, shortening delivery times, and avoiding costly mistakes.

Automated CAM programming

Speed up 2D, 2.5D, 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CAM programming with automation and user-defined templates built around your best practices.

Multi-axis CNC machining

Make better use of your 4- and 5-axis CNC machines. Produce high-quality parts using fewer setups which lowers production costs.

Turning and Turn-mill

Dedicated 2D turning strategies. Combined milling and turning processes generate NC code for multi-tasking hardware.

Toolpath modifications

Make global or localized edits to toolpaths without the need for wasteful recalculations and start machining better parts sooner.

In-cycle probing and inspection

Use spindle-mounted probes to automate machine setup and monitor machining to help improve part quality and reduce waste.

Achieve your CNC machining goals

Increase manufacturing throughput

Quickly convert your best practices into templates that can be shared across your team helping you make better use of your people, tooling, and machines.

Improve quality and reliability

Automate common CAM processes and workflows to remove manual non-value add tasks that are expensive and poorly controlled.

Reduce defects and non-conformities

Create the high-quality, collision-free NC machining code you need to produce parts to tolerance and protect your investment in CNC machinery.

Shorten project delivery times

Seamlessly connect your CAM programming and shop-floor teams to the data they need to make business-critical decisions faster.

Increase market share

Embrace innovative technologies that can help expand your manufacturing business and offer a higher-value service to your customers.

FAQ: CNC machining with Autodesk Fusion

What’s the difference between Autodesk Fusion and Autodesk Fusion for Manufacturing?

Autodesk Fusion is the starting point for many manufacturers providing all the essential tools you need for 2D, 3-axis to 3+2 CAM programming, 3D printing, and cloud-based collaboration. Autodesk Fusion for Manufacturing is a more capable version of Fusion that provides additional, advanced CAM capabilities for CNC machining (milling and turning), sheet-based nesting and fabrication, and 3D printing in a range of materials.

What is Autodesk Fusion for Manufacturing?

Autodesk Fusion for Manufacturing is a special offering that combines Autodesk Fusion and the Fusion Manufacturing Extension at a discounted price.

Do I have to pay extra for post-processors?

No. A subscription to Autodesk Fusion includes powerful CAD/CAM workflows but it also includes FREE access to an online library of editable post-processors capable of generating NC code for a wide range of different CNC machines. These post-processors can be edited by end-users. For more advanced post-processor configuration, a global network of authorized Autodesk resellers can provide a high-quality service (this may incur a fee).

Does Fusion include accurate digital twins (machine tools, cutting tools, fixtures)?

Yes. A subscription to Autodesk Fusion includes FREE access to online libraries of ancillary components that are often used by manufacturers, including:

  • Accurate 3D machine models from leading companies like Haas, Mazak, and Okuma to use in Fusion for simulation and verification.
  • Cutting tools, tool assemblies, and recommended feed rates from Sandvik Coromant, Kennametal, and more (*).
  • Accurate 3D models of fixtures and work-holding to help with machine setup.

* Note some of these services may incur additional fees.

How fast can I get started with Fusion for my business?

Quickly. Fusion is incredibly easy to use thanks to its modern interface, intuitive workflows, and library of online learning content. Depending on your specific needs, it's highly likely you'll become productive within a few hours or days.

How does Fusion compare with other CAM software?

Fusion is the fastest-growing CAD/CAM software available today. Autodesk releases updates to Fusion every 8 weeks meaning we can react to your needs quickly and provide the latest technology to support your business. As you'd expect from a professional-grade CAM tool, Fusion offers powerful programming tools for 2D, 2.5D, 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling on a growing range of CNC machine types and NC controllers.
